Scholarships

The Milford Schools Foundation is proud administer several scholarships to help Milford graduates as they pursue their educational goals and dreams after high school.

The Milford Schools Foundation is in the process of selecting the six Seniors who will each receive a $5,000.00 college scholarship this 2019 year. The criteria for the scholarships are academic achievement, community service, and financial need. Any Senior who excels in any of these areas is encouraged to apply.

Last year the scholarship recipients were a diverse group.

  • The Senior ranked number 1 in the class is studying electrical engineering at MIT.
  • The Senior ranked number 116 in the class is studying Special Education at Xavier University.
  • The Senior ranked number 87 in the class is majoring in nursing and teaching English as a second language at Cedarville University.
  • The Senior ranked number 39 in the class is beginning a naval career at Virginia Military Institute.
  • The Senior ranked number 20 in the class is studying mechanical engineering at Cedarville University.
  • The Senior ranked number 71 in the class is studying civil engineering at Ohio Northern University.

The foundation thanks the community, the Imbus family, and the Fley family for the financial support that makes these scholarships possible.

Boyd E. Smith Scholarship (2012)

A $5,000 scholarship given in honor and in memory of former Milford superintendent Boyd E. Smith. Criteria: Academic achievement, community service, financial need.

Imbus Family Scholarship (2015)

Made possible by donation from John Imbus, class of 1959, the $5,000 Imbus Family Scholarship is awarded to a Milford graduate pursuing a degree in civil engineering at the University of Cincinnati or Ohio State University. Criteria:Enrolled at either OSU or UC, must have been accepted into civil engineering degree program/pre-junior year, academic achievement, community service, financial need.

Fley Family Scholarship (2015)

Made possible by a posthumous donation from Jo Ann Fley, a 1948 Milford graduate and daughter of former Milford superintendent James H. Fley. Criteria: Academic achievement, community service, financial need.

Rick & Suzie Blackburn Music Scholarship (2013)

A $5,000 scholarship given in memory of 1960 MHS grad Rick Blackburn, who became an executive with several major music companies. Criteria: Pursuing a college degree in some field of music, academic achievement, community service, financial need.

The Milford Schools Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit organization with goal's to enhance and enrich educational opportunities for students. These scholarships are made possible by our many sponsors, donors and fund raising events that are held throughout the year.
